The POF media converter converters electrical data signals of a typical RJ45 connector into an optical signal, which can be transmitted over the polymer optical fibre (POF). So, it is easy to integrate all kinds of network devices in the POF network. The device is delivered with an AC adapter and USB cable. To establish the connection with the POF network the device could powered by the AC adapter. The power supply can also be realized by an USB connector of any device. Main features of the media converter are low power consumption, high data rate of up to 1 Gbps and a high compatibility to different network devices. The media converter includes switching function which means all ports are connected to each other.

The gigabit media converter is suitable for the integration of network devices with the need for high information rates in POF home- and office networks. The additional POF interface allows the extension of the optical signal.
